Description
Bring the soul of Persian folk art into your home with the hand-knotted Harriet Gabbeh rug. Woven by skilled tribal weavers using 100% natural wool, this piece embodies the spirit of a tradition that prioritizes feeling over formula.
Gabbeh (pronounced "ga-bee") rugs originate from the Zagros Mountains of southern Iran, woven by the Qashqai and Luri nomadic tribes. Unlike formal city rugs with precise, repeating patterns, Gabbehs are intentionally rustic and abstract. The word "Gabbeh" means "raw" or "natural" in Persian, a fitting name for rugs that are thick, plush, and wonderfully imperfect. These artisans don't use written patterns; they weave from memory, emotion, and daily life, resulting in designs that are bold, childlike, and deeply personal. Each Gabbeh is one of a kind.
